Helicopter Training From Zero Hours
 

I am hoping to treat my brother to a trial helicopter lesson and would be grateful if anyone can point me in the right direction of any suitable training venues in the Essex area. I suspect that he will want to carry on the training to CPL level (modular) so a professional outfit would be preferred.

Depends on where in Essex. I live in Essex and use Areomega - very professional bunch IMHO

The Flight Centre (was Direct Helicopters) still operate out of Southend Airport I think?

Appreciate that "Vital". I saw that Greg lives in Frinton, but his brother may not. I was just trying to be helpful.

I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking that wherever you do your trial lesson, it should be 'fun' (if your brother likes that kind of thing). So I'd choose the location he does it based on convenience rather than the possibility that he may want to carry on to be a professional pilot!

Even if the cost of the trial lesson was wasted (which it wouldn't be - if he's never flown before he will have half an hour of sensory overload wherever he does it), in the great scheme of things, it's diddly squat.

Let's hope he doesn't hate it....

This along with standards document 30 will provide a list of all places that provide training.
