Coastguard Helicopters
I am a military pilot having a look at various options for the future and would be interested in some info about the Coastguard SAR world.
I realise that you need to have served on a dedicated SAR Sqn however, what sort of shift pattern do you work, how does the pay compare to UK mil, police/HEMS and rig work, are there any restrictions on how close you have to live to the base, that sort of thing? Any info would be welcome. Thanks |
Look at Cougar helicopters in Canada!!

Coastguard.
Pay is same as North Sea which is the best you are likely to get in the helo world. Expect a start salary of 60-65k for Captain and continues north towards the big 100 for 20yr captains etc. Police is next, 42 - 60k followed by Hems.

Thanks for the info.
