Coastguard Helicopters

I am a military pilot having a look at various options for the future and would be interested in some info about the Coastguard SAR world.

I realise that you need to have served on a dedicated SAR Sqn however, what sort of shift pattern do you work, how does the pay compare to UK mil, police/HEMS and rig work, are there any restrictions on how close you have to live to the base, that sort of thing? Any info would be welcome.

Thanks

Coastguard.

Pay is same as North Sea which is the best you are likely to get in the helo world. Expect a start salary of 60-65k for Captain and continues north towards the big 100 for 20yr captains etc. Police is next, 42 - 60k followed by Hems.

Thanks for the info.
