TH55/ H269A Wind limitations
 
Hi, I was wondering if anyone could please give me some information on maximum wind operating limitations for the TH55/ H269A as it is not published in the POH.

My experience with a 269B, for what it's worth, is that you could operate in a pretty strong wind, maybe 35 to 40 kts., as long as you had lots of space. However, when hovering you couldn't turn out of wind too much. So as long as you were in an open area you were fine but you didn't want to be in a confined area in a strong wind. I'd imagine the "A" is not too different.

The Schweizer 300 I fly is 17 knots from any direction I believe. I have a flight manual, I can check for sure if need be.

17 Knots is the demonstrated crosswind in the RFM but isn't specified as a limit. Having said that, many places do simply call that the limit.

As I understood it, the FAA only required demonstration of controllability up to 17 knots since above that you're in ETL.

The TH55 and 300B's handle the wind quiet well, but they do have a gutless tail rotor! Most of the Hughes models are 20 mph (17 kts) and this is enough to keep you pointing into wind! So experience on type will become your limit.
