Are there any organisations that put helicopter pilots in touch with companies that do relief or volunteer flying. I have seen a couple of web sites that ask for pilot owners (FW) to help in areas of the world that need them, but are there any places for helicopter non owners to do some volunteer flying for the benefit of others?

Humanitarian Help, supporting the poorest, "dedicated to improving living conditions and opportunities for the poor, without regard to their faith, origin or gender" is also the goal of our muslim collegues of the Agha Khan Foundation. As a great and world-wide network they also operate helicopters with great success in areas with the urgent need of helicopter support. :ok:

does anyone have any updated information about getting involved with relief organizations? are there any ppruners currently working for helimission?

So what if you aren't a religious person, but had experience and wanted to help others, would you still get a position?

I have positions for 3 x A109C pilots for relief work in Africa. All expenses paid (incl. airfare, local accommodation and transportation) plus a nominal monthly stipend of USD 3,000. But, the closing date is this Friday 14th (Jan 2011). These openings are not for the faint hearted as ops are in an active war zone!

Not quite in the same league, but in the UK "Airsearch" has a number of members who are pilots but not owners. Who we are - Air Search Paired with an Owner/Pilot you could get some cheap or free pilot hours if you are interested in timebuilding.

No salary, and obviously more "spare time", not full-time

TiP Not with Helimission because you wouldn't meet the criteria.
Although Helimission helps those in need regardless of their religion (if any), the staff are Christians.

(I suppose you might if no candidates met the criteria for a position, but that's very unlikely.)
