And the pilot's door pops open in flight just like a Jetrangers! (2:15)

rjtjrt 24th June 2013 06:25

If the door is being held open on purpose, I wonder whether the structural integrity of the cabin safety cage is compromised by the door being open (or off), in case of a hard landing or crash?
The Cabri manufacturer seems to have taken a lot of care address safety, and would be interested if they have any information about this.

Not too many helicopter types come to mind where the door is part of the structure. No doubt there can be certain panels required for flight. Most door removal restrictions are an aero thing.

If it did it would probably look like the door on a pressurised aircraft!

I have yet to see an F1 with doors!

Helicentre Aviation and the Cabri G2

.
Helicentre Aviation in UK seems to enjoy the G2.

They will receive their second unit in few weeks and their third one in January.

They indend to order their fourth one at Helitech in September and think they will have six G2 by 2015 !

Saw one fly over yesterday in Hawkes Bay, NZ. Amazingly quiet little machine - the fenestron makes a difference, not too often when a helo flies overhead that you can hear engine noise!

Very impressed so far having flown over 600 hours since last Autumn in the one machine. The pendulums have made a massive difference at higher speeds, and flying with the door open has been a nice feature especially this last week!

Definitely the way forward in training, hence the plans to expand the fleet. We'll have one on display at Helitech if anyone wants to have a look.

A document from 2009 must be a bit out by now..... I don't know how much the 2200hr overhaul costs, but the first Cabri overhaul was estimated at three weeks duration only (see here) so it's got to be a good deal less than the Robbo equivalent

At the point the first two Cabri overhauls were done in recent weeks (both for Northern Helicopters in Sweden), I heard that analysis was done on operating costs from new, and both aircraft had come in at lower than earlier estimates. How much lower??

There was an S300 v R22 v Cabri comparison done recently in the UK too - perhaps Helicentre can help us on the results if there isn't a publication date embargo?

Hello tottigol,

The G2 costs around 290 000 € (250 000 £) depending of the equipments.

A dealer will be much more precise.

Not yet in the US. Two reasons according to Bruno : certification's cost and high insurance rates.

Hello KiwiNedNZ,

There are four G2 flying in NZ and two are expected to arrive next month.

I've seen in other threats that you're doing amazing pictures of helicopters :ok:

Do you have some of the G2 ?
