A 412 came in on top of him and put his bucket through the rotors. The 412 landed afterwards, even after meshing blades with the 212, but I don't know what happened yet to the 212 driver.

The 412 was single pilot and likely had a massive blind spot.

Though it really is not too important, other than to those involved (whom I hope are okay), isn't the chopper in the pool a Bell 205, not a 212?

It now appears they were both 412s.

With 4 blades?

The one blade you can see is definately not a 412 blade. Too wide, no taper.
Looks more like a 205 or 212 blade.
There is a stream of water being sprayed onto the a/c from the left hand side of the photo.
Who knows the correct registrations & operators.

Mmm...I'd probably change the 'definately not' to 'possibly not' or even 'definately is'......real quick before anyone see's it....;);)

In all fairness though, guys that actually saw the wreck happen thought it was a 212 at first...If you study the small picture, you'll see a blade stub sticking out 90 degrees from the whole blade that's visible...

Just checked with friend in the know in Spain and one was a FAASA 412 and the other was a Helisureste 412.

Time will tell, when more information comes out. Cause & type, etc.
But I will say again that it does not look like a 412 blade.
No taper, very thick, straight edge on the tip. All different from the 412 which is thin, tapered & rounded at the tip.
It seem that one can make out the left hand engine intake just above the water level, which is of course 212/412 & not 205.
Always hard to i/d after a crash with bent & battered pieces lying in water & foam.

God Vibs - I can tell you for a FACT it was two 412s. My info came from the management of one of the companies involved, and I am pretty sure they know what hit what.

Just my 0.02 cents worth.

Does the 412 have a skidd assy ?
The bambi bucket used as a drogue, if it were the accident bucket, does not appear to be to chewed up /damaged for something that may have gone into a spinning rotor !? :hmm:

Good eyes Bushman...It in fact does have a skid assy but it's mostly inside the cabin. ;)...

Good Vibs.....The machine in the water is a 412...Trust me on this. I don't want to go into it until the investigation is complete. But here's a closer shot...

Note the ' Electric Hat ' floating in the oil slick...

212 Bushman....The bambi slid into the disk of the lower aircraft from the right side and the contact was with the bambi support cables.The actual bambi itself passed underneath the disk. Your correct in that it was used it as a drogue, just because we had nothing else handy at the time. It worked well enough if you look at the video...Amazing stuff speed tape ;-))

Wholly sweet mother ! If he didn't have the luck of plonking down into that pool, I'd recon it would have burnt onwards to end up looking like the Pacific 212 in Afghanistan.
Still not much to salvage though. :)
