New Flymap
 

Has anybody got a new Flymap ? If so what do you think of it say compared to skyforce 111 ? Am looking for something that shows pylons etc for those low viz days ....Have never understood why they are on the 250,000 but not on the skymap screen :confused: Also have you tried the telephone addition for weather charts etc

One of my customers got one today. Very impressed with it, but only used it for an hour. Great with notams, havent tried weather but if it is anything like the Met office's accuracy why bother.
Flymap will not accept os grid references. Doesnt tell you where you are in relation to towns cities vrps etcetc.
Looks tacky compared to skymap. Like the idea of route planning on PC and then loading on to box in ac.
Let you know more as get used to it - very expensive though

Can't really compare to Skymap - it isn't certified. Best to compare with handhelds. If you use a Garmin there are some excellent downloads for UK airspace available here that make most other GPS units look prehistoric.

Garmin not really for me as a moving map is better for heli ops in my opinion. Is there a moving map that uses data from say a 250,000 map or even an os map that does not cost £20k yet ? Skymap is fine but half of the big towns in the country are not named and obstructions such as pylons are not there. Not really fussed about certification !!:uhoh:

We're going to add grid referencing to our Flymap systems and will most probably launc hthis function when we are able to offer OS charting.

We also offer an obstacle database and ahve just finished a new pylon database for the National Grid.

Try memory map for the half and quarter mill maps.

You may find http://www.griffin-helicopters.co.uk/memorymap.asp useful if you have memory map, Navaids and Notams downloadable into Memory Map.

Memory Map wasn't designed to do this so the Notam Import is a fr*g, but it does work.
