Please could any of you dear helicopter pilots who work or have worked in Nigeria give me some advice on working there and the risks involved.
Have been offered position on 365 chc, about to bin it because of all the rumours i keep hearing and the dangers ?

Suggest you read the 'What's New in West Africa" thread which has been going for a long time on Pprune.

It will take you a few hours to read. If you have questions after that, I am sure someone will answer them.

Hippolite is right - read the What's New in West Africa thread: it's mostly about Nigeria. Also visit Oyibosonline.
Between Bristow and CHC there must be close to 200 helicopter pilots working out here and a 6/6 roster means you're only here for 6 months a year.

Well I have quite a few mates working there at the moment ....

And for all the rumour and bad comments that you have heard on various threads .... they all seem to be liking their jobs .... money is good with professional attitudes and good commaraderie (?).

They are certainly NOT leaving there to come back to the middle east!!

It is a bit dangerous, but may well not be by the time you're old enough to go there! I see that you're 17 years old and most of the oil companies for which CHC fly in Nigeria require several thousand hours Command time and an instrument rating. So, keep on getting the experience and maybe you'll be able to work in a safer, nicer Nigeria.

I did a stint with CHC Scotia, now with CHC in Nigeria. Prefer Nigeria to working in the UK. A lot less back stabbing here, although there are still a few here who complain just for the sake of complaining. Yes you can't get everything you want. It isn't paradise, but it isn't (in my opinion) as bad as some would have you believe.
Great bunch of people to work/drink beer with. Won't be going back to the UK or the Middle East anytime soon. Much better here thanks very much.
Yes there is crime, yes you need to be aware of your surroundings, but you also need to do that in a great many other countries. It doesn't really concern me, but it may concern others. Perhaps I emnjoy the adventure too much, or perhaps it is just the lobotomy!! :ugh::{
At least with the lack of shopping opportunities I'm saving money that I would otherwise spend on crap. I spend on average about US$150 in my 6 weeks on. That is all on beer :E

Can someone give me the details on where to apply or rather who to get in contact with, in regards to working for CHC in Nigeria.

That is the correct site to apply. Once a person is hired by CHC Global is then decided where you will be sent to work.

I am sure if you get hired on and request Nigeria they will be more than happy to accomadate you.
