The space would be appreciated, to fly one of those little indoor helicopters.

I know some bloody good helicopter engineers, but Ive never met one yet who understood Ikea instructions. I wonder how many bits he had left over:E

Careful, or you'll upset your kinfolk.

At least they picked the best ever machine to model:ok:

Wooden helos

I actually met an elderly gent who had flown a Bell 47 with wooden blades back in the 1950s. He told me you had to be careful of if the machine was left out overnight if there was a dew. Actually the problem wasn't the dew it was if one blade got the morning sun before the other. The shaded balde held more mositure producing a very bad vibration.

'The shaded balde held more mositure producing a very bad vibration', which would, of course, go away in dew course!

I wonder how many different planes the chippy used?

teeteringhead 13th April 2007 10:44

I'm only slightly too young to have flown the Sycamore, which had wonderful wooden blades.

Hand-finished (so very like a Morgan) and they had washout, taper and varying cross-section, a fantastic achievement before GRP......
