Some hot - some cold!!

With thanks as always to John Eacott - who for reasons best known to himself was at work on Saturday! - here are some shots from the cockpit of Kuwait Police EC135s.

The first 3 are in the ILS pattern at Kuwait International:

http://www.helicopterservice.com.au/...e/DSC00793.JPG

http://www.helicopterservice.com.au/...e/DSC00796.JPG

The next 3 show that it does rain in desert countries, sometimes:

http://www.helicopterservice.com.au/...e/DSC00869.JPG

http://www.helicopterservice.com.au/...e/DSC00879.JPG

One of the local sights (biggest "dhow", or in this case mohalab, in the world):

http://www.helicopterservice.com.au/...e/DSC01039.JPG

and finally for now, back to the dashboard theme:

http://www.helicopterservice.com.au/...e/DSC01213.JPG

Pictures were uploaded to John using the new hotmail image attachment thingy which keeps file size down but limits width to 600 pixels - not always a good idea.

February Desktop Calendar

This month's calendar is the first to be produced by John Eacott.

John already does a great deal for the forum - he's one of the two volunteers who host pictures for members without their own websites - and, starting this month, John and BlenderPilot will create the calendars on alternate months. Until now, Blender (alias Carlos) has created every calendar since we started producing them more than a year ago.

The picture we've chosen for this month's calendar isn't pretty or striking in the way the others have been, but it is intended as a Rotorheads tribute to all the helicopter crews who are working hard in difficult conditions to alleviate the terrible suffering caused by the tsunami disaster - including Vertalop from Malaysia who took the picture we've used.

Click on the link below - if you're on a dial-up connection, it's best to Right click and then Save target as ...

Many thanks to John Eacott and Vertalop. :ok:

TI,

It does need a wash badly but I ran out of duty time :ok: and the water restrictions aren't helping either! The rain associated with the storm wasn't heavy enough for me to get out there in my Reg Grundy's and do it either! :yuk:

Cheers,

Hollywood

T and B; what's happened to the Auto pilot i.e. why the orange cross hatches on the PFD?

Droopystop 31st January 2005 09:02

Crab,

Looking at your twin tv set up, it seems that you need to take a look at the FLIR installation. Looks to me that it has been put on upside down!!:E :E

Thud_and_Blunder 31st January 2005 09:37

212Man,

We've not had serviceable autopilots since last August; the 50 deg C OAT limit sadly doesn't seem to apply to the autopilot system, which usually kicks off after about 10 mins with the temp above 40-45 deg C. I was going to include a description of the reason why we don't have the appropriate spares, but decided this isn't the appropriate forum to discuss such matters

You might also have noticed the lack of a "sand filter" indication in the bottom pic. Same reason as above.

212man 31st January 2005 09:40

T and B, Ah, I see! Do you have problems with the FCDMs as well then, as I assume they sit in the same rack? (AP is straddled by FCDMs in the 155.)

VeeAny 31st January 2005 13:24

Thanks boys

A good tribute to the people out there working.

My respect for the job done, and a good calendar.

V.

BlenderPilot 1st February 2005 02:29

John, Heliport,

This calendar is really good, particularly because it makes us think extra effort those pilot's have to make when working in such difficult conditions to aid in one of history's worst natural disasters.

Congratulations to John E. for his first calendar, and a sincere thanks to all who are working in Indonesia helping others in their time of need.
