Greenland.

Took these while working in Greenland.

Air Alpha operates 6 Bell222 and a B206L. Most work is scheduled routes. There are no roads connecting the towns and villages. We also fly tourist, ambulance and geologist, mostly in the summertime.

Landed on Gullfjell mountain range with french tourist. This is close to the edge of the world, the closest town is 1400 km away.

Enroute to Asiaat. Passing an iceberg.

Landed to refuel south of Constable point, on a ferry trip from Angmassalik. Great weather that day, witch felt good since you wont pass a single building for 6 hours.

Your pictures evoked happy memories of an overnight stop at Narsarsuaq some years ago. Took the opportunity to do some aerial sight-seeing around the coastline, and up over the ice-cap, before setting off for Goose Bay on the next leg. Amazing scenery. :ok:

It's remains the only place I've been where the landing clearance (s/e fixed-wing) included a warning that there was a large iceberg on the centre-line on the final stage of approach. :ooh:
It was small enough for the airport to allow it to float away in its own time rather than towing it, but big enough to be given as a hazard warning to landing aircraft.

Thanks

Tudor Owen

Here are a couple more that John Eacott has again graciously hosted. Many thanks:

This is the airport in Bata, Equatorial Guinea as approached from onshore.

This is Mongomo,Eq. Guinea, just on the eastern border with Gabon and south of the three way border with Cameroon. Incidentally, the president's (locally) home town, I'm told.

This picture was originally posted in one of the fire-fighting threads but I thought it should be included here.

It shows John Eacott - Helicopter Service Australia using an Erickson Sling Tank during the Hydro Majestic fire in the Blue Mountains last December. The white tank suspended in the cables holds the foam concentrate.

Erickson use the picture as a promotional shot for their Sling Tank.

AN old favourite of mine, scanned from an old copy.

Type: Mil 26 (Russian) helicopter.
Location: PNG
Cause: Heavy equipment being loaded too far aft.

1. Four ground crew are running from the load ramp area and one is crouching behind the forklift at RH side of picture.
2. Piece of tail rotor blade going up (above main rotor) after contacting the ground. Apparently it was 3 months before the repairs were completed, and the main gearbox (driving the main rotor) had to be long lined in by Chinook, since there was no 8-9 tonne crane available to do the job

A little off the 'Rotorheads' topic, so feel free to delete the post mods, but a nice shot I thought!

I took this last year when the aircraft pictured came through Ayers Rock, Central Australia. Note the pilot waving! In case you missed the wheels, just visible before retracting completely, he has just become airborne and I was standing on a sand dune next to the runway.

Cheers,

Hollywood

Helicopters lined up for the first of 10 days of Rugby world cup transfers from Sydney to the Hunter valley on Pub-Tours. We were transporting English rugby supporters all week in 7 Helo's and all us guys were giving the Poms Stick about how they would loose, I should have kept quiet!!......notice the trusty Ducati in the picture

One of our landing sites on the Pub tours is a litttle place called St Albans which is the oldest country pub in Oz. the landing site is the dried up river bed in front of the Pub, As you can see it doesnt flow much!!
