Hours on a new aircraft
A question for the likes of Nick L, Jim L etc.
What flying hours (due to pre C of A and C of A type testing) would a customer expect to see on his new airframe when he picked it up? |
i had 8.1 on the clock with a new 480

At least 5 hours.
|
RHC allow for upto 10hrs. Most of the ones I've seen have between 5-7 hrs pre-delivery.
|
Define "new". Straight off the assembly line for the first time, "Zero time" overhaul to (or better than) factory specifications and standards?
|
12-18hrs on a new police aircraft, the extra due role equipment testing.
|
The 8.1 hours that Lartsa quotes is not unreasonable. However, it is always interesting to check in the logbooks to see when the pre-delivery hours were flown. Hours flown after the issue of a C of A would be more suspicious unless this was to test the installation of optional equipment.
If it niggles ask your supplier for a break down of the hours? If your helicopter had been used to demonstrate the aircraft to another possible buyer they may well be able / willing to compensate you for the any component time consumed that you consider unreasonable. |
Thanks for all the replies, Sasless, it's straight off the production line (well, as straight off the production line as it's possible to get!).

12-15 on the EC-155s I accepted.
|
it's straight off the production line |
No MG, I've won the lottery, I'm going to buy an S92 (a bit of P***s compensation)!!
:oh: |
We normally fly 4 to 7 hours on new production aircraft before delivery to the completion center. Normal ATP flight of a couple of hours then additional time to correct any discrepancies and fine tune the vibes.

I believe Robinson can use up to 10hrs on a "new" aircraft for the factory courses, before it goes to the buyer... I think. Please correct me.
