Helos at Chernobyl

Watched the BEEB last night about Chernobyl. I wondered how many of the pilots have survived.

Take a look at this web site, some awesome pics of the Chernobyl area taken by a biker chick riding around in the "Dead Zone".

There are a few pics of the area where they dumped all the Helo's and vehicles that were used during the disaster, pretty eerie stuff.

Considering the lack of protective clothing and the lies they were told, I'd have thought alot of the people involved died.

Very sad to hear that.

Are those helicopters still in flyable/serviceable condition? I saw a few Mi-26's sitting there.
