US what's the deal???

Hi all,
http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/confused.gif
I am a 21 year old Norwegian who is off to the US in September to start my CPL-H training.

I am wondering whether anyone has had any experience on how to get a permit to work in the US. Will the authorities grant you a work visa if you get an offer from a helicopter operator(has it happened).

By the way, I am going over on a 2-year J1 visa so I can get experience flying as a CFI.
Also, I have applied for the DV02 Green Card lottery.

I've tried to search the web for information on this subject. However, I find it very difficult to come up with anything specific!!

I would appreciate any replies on this, especially from someone who has actually done this!

Pitch up, boys and girls!

Dan

You don't give any flying history so if you are just starting don't worry you have a way to go yet. Do your homework first very well re the J1 visa as if you go over there on a tourist or any other visa you will not get work. You will have to leave the country to change the visa. Nobody will hire you without being able to insure you and they can't insure you if you do not have a work permit. I know I tried. Good luck and say if you want any further info. Don't worry about the CPL exams most probably the easiest in the world (I have about 5 foreign licences)-chasing the dreaded $$$$$
