Thank you

A sincere 'thank you' to all contributors to this informed and civilised forum, which I have recently discovered. You have renewed my faith in the helicopter pilot fraternity which was severely shaken after a depressing few weeks reading the embarrassing threads in the 'justhelicopters.com' forum.
(Note: this may elicit a few comments from devotees of that forum - standby for a graphic description).

What is it that you dislike so much about justhelicopters.com?
Whilst not a "devotee", I have looked at it from time to time over the past few months and found most of the posts and replies were of quite a high standard.
Rotorheads can be good at times - but it's not very active. (Has the reputation of being one of the quitest forums on PPRuNE)

This forum was traditionally one of the more civilised and informative despite the fact that it was unmoderated for a long time.

Unfortunately, some of us felt that the forum was suddenly over-moderated for no good reason by a name that none of us knew. I and a few others decided not to contribute further.

Now going back in my box (to take a passing interest only).

Hey Skycop, welcome back!!

Capt2per 17th June 2000 20:36

SkyCop,

I have never posted on this forum, but I read it regularly. I remember following the little tussle over military posts and came away feeling that the moderator dealt with the issue fair and square at the time, but that was at least six months ago and surely old news by now. Since then, I haven't seen a single comment from helidrvr other than some general posts of interest to us all.

As far as I know about 80% of the world's helicopter pilots live and work in the USA or Canada and of those that work off shore the majority are from there. Many of the posts on this otherwise very nice forum deal with local British issues which are meaningless to those of us who hail from other parts. It could just be that these may be the main reasons why JustHelicopters.com seems to get all the action. One more example of the fading of the Raj, I guess.

I can't help but wonder if you keep picking on the moderator to hide your own inability to make a more meaningful contribution to this forum.

By the way, you would do well to read some of helidrvr's posts on justhelicopters.com - you might learn something.

My previous last post was on the 27 Feb. I made what I felt was a valid and at that time final comment and showed my protest by non-contribution to the forum. Other users also chose to discontinue their contributions at the same time. Someone just mentioned that this was a quiet site and I saw fit to state a fact. I do not feel I have been picking at anyone.

I am not going to get involved in an argument about which of my previous postings are and are not "valuable" in your opinion (especially as your contribution until now = nil). Perhaps you should offer your services as a moderator. You seem to be ideally qualified.

:) ;)
