I remember seeing some stories about a news chopper or something landing in an abandoned lot next to a dunkin donuts and the crew getting coffee, then flying away.
Anyone?....Anyone?.....

I was a flight mechanic on a Bell HTL-1 (B-47) flying from Miami to New York. We were over a small town in Maryland and our engine started to run rough. We landed in a schoolyard across the street from a gas station. I pulled the plugs and went to the gas station and used their spark plug cleaner. I reinstalled the plugs and fired the engine up and it ran smoothly. With that, we lifted off and continued our journey. The gas station proprietor gave the pilot and myself a couple of Coca Colas but no coffee.

They would probably charge for the Cokes these days Lu <img src="smile.gif" border="0">

S-76 executive aircraft have cupholders-
Stopped at a McDonald's across the street from Charlie Brown Airport in Atlanta one time, rushed back with a take-out meal for me and my buddies, got my clearance and quickly climbed to 8000 on course.

Ever see an S-76 with an exploded vanilla shake all over the center console?

Ever try to wipe it up while at Norcross VOR northbound? :)

Baranfin, It was in New Mexico, ABQ. A police helicopter operated by a non-cop pilot landed next to a dognut shop and made the front page of the local paper. The do-do hit the fan. <img src="smile.gif" border="0">

Had a look over an F111 bomber. Large aircraft up close, but I digress, the best part of the whole aircraft? The Thermos holder and an ash tray!!

Watched a H500 tuna spotter land in the kids playground near the tutukaka pub (burnt down last year unfortunately) near Whangarei, guy ran out into the off licence and then returned with a case of kiwi's best amber fluid and then they took off back out to the mother ship offshore.. .Try doing that these days....... .FT

Being Canadian, our old 'A' model 76's have cup holders in the front.. .Much appreciated at 2am. I think they are part of the EMS kit sponsored by Tim Hortons. :) . .Now if only they were heated..........

Cup holders? Wasn't that the primary role of the Looker down the back :) :)

Re the F111, one of the first things to be considered for removal on 700S (Sea King IFTU) were the ash trays!! Didn't stop smokers, though, who were well adapted to carrying a Pusser's baccie tin to flick the offending ash and fag ends <img src="wink.gif" border="0">
