Hmmm...I don't see it on the 412 options list.

Larry 16th March 2001 07:38

Those are the German Air Ambulance 412s on wheels. I think there are 5 or so and are the only 412s ive seen on wheels other than a Bell factory demo ship that did rounds
in the USA 6-7 years ago. It came thru Los Angeles with a corporate interior and paint scheme.
Dammed ugly machine with those silly wheels and it makes the S-76 look like the prettiest helicopter made

whatsarunway 16th March 2001 21:52

are those rear wheels retractable

CTD 16th March 2001 23:26

No, the wheels are not retractable. As for their 'ugliness', it handles like a sports car on the ground, like many things, once you're behind the stick, it somehow becomes less ugly.

Cyclic Hotline 17th March 2001 00:15

There is only one other helicopter that competes in the ugliness stakes - the 214ST on wheels!

No matter what, the 412 wheeliecopter is the ugliest machine that was ever produced. Looks like a mid-air between a 412 and a Cessna 150!! ;)

MightyGem 17th March 2001 07:07

A Mk 9 Lynx looks pretty ugly (can you say that?), but as CTD says, once in the air...

Taff Missed 21st March 2001 17:53

Mighty Gem

A Lynx! In the air? I'll have a pint of whatever you're on please.

Not sure if you were suggesting the Lynx is ugly in the air or on the ground ot that it is unusual to be in a flying state !!
