Several Pilots of the German Army did those Acro-Displays for Air-Shows and Freestyle-World-Championships. One of the first was Cpt. Charly Zimmerman, who won the World-Championship the first Time in 1981, it was in Poland, as far as I remember.
I was attending the rehearsals in Ahlhorn,Germany one time, standing right beside a member of the American team (B 206 Pilot ), his words: Thats no helicopter, thats magic.
Severeal Western Teams met in Germany before the Championship and then cruised together to Poland a long way around Eastern Germany, the times had changed a lot since then.

Here is another video depicting how much fun the BO-105 can be to fly. Although it isn't the world's most attractive looking helicopter, it surely has to rate as one of the most manoeuvrable ones ever built. An over-engineered masterpiece from the late 1960's, if you ask me...

Thats one of the advertise-movies from MBB, now Eurocopter. The BO was flown by Mr. Hoffmann, former ChiefTP of MBB

Lucky you. I have one or two MBB stickers from my "Lansav" days (nowadays "Eurocopter Southern Africa") from way back when. But unfortuantely, the "Even the birds are jealous" BO-105 somehow got away from me...

Thats a trip, I used to have those stickers when I was a kid that my dad gave me.....erm about 15 yrs ago ..ahem ..anyway.

I think the Bo105 is a beautiful helicopter... very nimble, good pax.

In this case "Beauty" definately in the eyes of the beholder!

And it certainly had its "peculiarities".

However .... a more "confidence inspireing machine" that you feel you can take anywhere probably does not exist ('cept maybe the BK117 series perhaps!!)...... as borne out by these video clips.

Can the BO108 (EC135) do this kind of flying as well?

how skilled a pilot do you have to be to pull off those sorts of moves ? I take it an average ppl wouldn't cut it !
The 108's price isnt too bad to purchase , bet it costs a small fortune to opperate ?

I spent 4 and a half years flying the 105, over 1300 hrs; fabulous machine!! Never let me down, despite the weather or age of the beast!

I've still got my "birds" stickers, I intend to hang on to them!

Once, back in the '80's, I was flying an offshore field ship and was tasked to give a presentation at the safety meeting. I called my boss and got some videos sent out, as well as a liferaft and some extra CO2 canisters for life vests, so they could be inflated as a demo. I looked through the videos - water survival, helicopter safety, etc, and to my amazement one of them was this BO105 video. I watched it, and immediately decided there was no way I was going to show that at a safety meeting for a major oil company. That one stayed in the box.
