Mmmm ...
Everybody should realise ... any applications to ADA atm are pointless .... posts #729 & #743 this thread refer .... To paraphrase an ex Mrs Rod Stewart ... it didn't happen overnight ... but it is happening... :ugh: |
Implosion?
An implosion of some sorts?
Any more info spinwing? I have just put an application in. Cheers. |
Crewing of Police ASUs in the Middle East
I am a UK Police Air Observer (16 years experience) Coming up for early retirement next year and at the point where I am exploring all my options.
Do Police ASUs in the Gulf and UAE have any expats crewing ? or is it a local nationals job only. Or are there any non pilot aircrew jobs eg pipeline inspection available ? Thanks :) |
Most operations in UAE are nationalised these days. I think Etienne was the last expat working operational for Adu Dhabi Police and I dont know of any ex pats in Dubai Police Air Wing.
If you were a pilot you might have had a chance but as a crewman there these days not much hope. The only option could be on the SAR helos that ADA are currently running but would say they have all their positions filled some time ago. |
AD Police are hiring about 6 -7 expat pilots at the moment and may review their operations so it may be worth trying them....couldn't hurt, the worst thing that might happen is they say no or don't bother replying to you.
Cheers Turkey |
Turkeyslapper - Is that because of all the new AW139s they are getting.
|
Not sure of all details but it may be a combination of new aircraft, too few pilots/instructors, too many roles etc etc. I think some of the guys being hired haven't flown 412 or 139.
|
Thats good to hear. Maybe it also has something with the Brit Norman Woollens being in the GHQ there now. He seems to have a decent influence on the ex pats getting hired which is good to see.

Thanks for the replies so far chaps, as I say its early stages yet with 12 months to go, but as you say there is no harm in looking or asking.:)

Police Air Wing
Just to let you know the AD police Air wing have contracted a Pilot and a Crewman from CareFlight Queensland. I think they are here for SAR training they are only 412 so I don't know who is doing their 319 training
|
Understand, they are doing 412 and 139 training for ADPAW :hmm:

Middle Eastern Posting
Have been offered a good flying post (IFR Capt) in the ME but have no idea of the going rates. Not the normal offshore stuff. What would be a good daily rate and what other extras should I expect. I hear that equal time rotations are possible but do they exist in today's hash world and if that's not what's on offer what is the standard work-routine.
CC-D |
I would like to know the same. Do they pay the same as CHC? Do they offer same rotations ? thanks. Who is hiring internationally? offshore or not, heavies and mediums or not?? thanks
|
There is a discussion on 'Flying in the Middle East' with the information you are looking for. If you have been offered a job and they have not told you the pay or tour cycle yet I would be very cautious.

Gulf Helicopters
So, hopefully now I am on the correct thread. Does anyone have any new information on Gulf Helicopters?
I am hearing all sorts of rumors just wondering if anyone can shed some light. Lunar |
What sort of rumors?
|
I have heard, very unofficially, that certain crews are being forced to work abroad (outside Doha), outstation pay is being withheld. Co-pilots are bonded for captaincy, 139 bond is for 3 years with the pilot agreeing to do 3 tours outside Doha.. Promotion to Captain is dependent on Co-pilots agreeing to work outside of Doha...
Maintenance standards worries and stories of incidents being swept under the carpet... I was thinking of applying but need information from someone who knows the truth. Lunar |
Lunar,
A little background about Gulf Heli and Qatar. Qatar is one of the worlds wealthiest countries, if not the wealthiest, on a per capita basis.:ok: Qatar has for years had a held view that they would like to achieve 100% employment for their citizens, by providing quality education and job opportunity. Gulf Heli,s is more or less owned by the Qatari government, and therefore has to abide by the edict, Qatari citizen,s always come first, whether it,s employment, pay, rostering or what ever, and the Foreign employee always second.:ugh: Therefore, when it comes to any less desirable work, any Qatari citizen who works as aircrew for Gulf Heli,s, never volunteers to give up nights at home, to go work at an outside job where conditions are not near as nice. That is why as a Foreign employee, you or me will always be told that we are going to do work that is deemed less desirable, and must do the outside jobs, or be shown the door.:suspect: If you are thinking of going to work for a foreign company in a foreign country, especially the Middle East, loose the self righteous entitled attitude, because we are always going to be second class to the nationals. :} When enough of their citizens become qualified aircrew, we will all be shown the door, so until then, enjoy the ride, do what your told, and take your money home. As far as the bonding for the 139 endorsements go, it is just their way of keeping crews from jumping ship after the company sinks a ton of money in someone. If you think it,s illegal, remember, your in a foreign country and they have their own rules, like it or leave it, with the Global financial crisis, we are apparently a dime a dozen.:\ |
