Very odd
A109 at Battersea today.
Gray with a few black go faster stripes. No civvy reg or military markings. What? Who? Why? |
Saw a machine just like it in July 1997 at Shobdon. Which is near Hereford...

Toni's new stealth group to allow for quick gettaways!!:E

The paint job gets changed periodically to keep spotters on their toes.

Sid / crab
Is it one of the 109s seized from the Argentinians during the Falklands War? |
I think you will find it belongs to the Hereford Gun club they pop into shobdon for a brew know and again
|
It rhymes with pass.:suspect:

Thomas Coupling
Surely your statement only works for us up North? |
Who Dares have no markings??
|
The Agusta A.109A Hirundo performs the role of attack helicopter for the Argentinian Army in the Escuadrón de Aviación de Exploración y Ataque 602 .
http://www.lamilitary.com/AR_EA_A109...tineanArmy.jpg Three Agusta A.109As were sent to the Falklands/Malvinas. On May 23, 1982 AE-337 was destroyed near Shag Cove by 30 mm gunfire from a couple of Sea Harriers piloted by Cpt. Morgan and Cpt. Leeming of 800 Squadron. When the Argentinian surrender came, the remaining two were captured intact. Two (AE-331 & AE-334) were transferred to the UK where they are now ZE411 & ZE410 and serve the SAS. |
It must be them. Who else would be brave enough to ride round in an A109?
|
The "black helicopters" from the US are now joined by the "gray helicopters" from the UK, huh? ;)
|
The four aircraft have individual colour schemes so they are not immediately recognisable (except to members of PPRUNE!!!).
Hilico: Perhaps you should make the same comment to one of SAS pilots and then we will see how brave you are!!!! |
Do the SAS have capbadged pilots?
Do they do the same courses/training? If they do Hilico, start running 'cause you can't hide! :suspect: If not, start walking, you'll be able to get a head start! :ok: It could have been this one from London helicopters http://www.london-helicopters.co.uk/pics/a109.jpg Which is the more likely, so I suggest you pull up a chair and have a coffee. :D |
I've seen the one Phoenix son found the pic of undergoing maintenance. Not the interesting cylindrical cans on the nose and at the start of the tailboom. I was told that they are for anti-missile chaff. Now that's cool:p
|
Siloesid - they are all AAC
|
if you run, you'll just die tired...
|
Thanks guys.
It was the one in Phoenix's picture. Ex Argy now SAS. |
If you mess about with phoenixs picture in photosuite or similar programme at 150% ish , you can make out the registration under the front door in the black bit as ZE410. :8
But then again, when you then google search the reg, you get back to the !!!!!!!!!!!!!! site only to find the same picture and the reg no posted below it in the remarks box! :{ I should have guessed, K.I.S.S. |
