On this day, 20 May ......
1940 - Igor Sikorsky patented his first helicopter.
And also ....... 1939 - Regular transatlantic air services began as a Pan American Airways 'Yankee Clipper] took off from Port Washington, New York, bound for Europe. 1932 - Amelia Earhart took off from Newfoundland for Ireland to become first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic. 1927 - Charles Lindbergh began his solo flight across the Atlantic http://www.bluetonguehelicopters.com...rune/actsm.gif |
The Spirit of St. Louis
And may I recommend Lindbergh's book "The Spirit of St. Louis" about his famous flight. Even rotary wing drivers will probably find it interesting.
|
I'd also recommend the Movie with Jimmy Stuart, grew up watching that on Friday nights. :ok: One of the best movies ever made in my opinion....not that my opinion has ever counted for much...
