Rotorheads Closing Down
........... but not permanently! :D
PPRuNe is upgrading to a new state of the art server tomorrow Sunday 14th March and will be shut down for several hours. For most of us, there should be little if any delay logging in again once the move has taken place, but it may take up to 24 hours before some users will be able to access the new server while the new server IP address is promulgated to all the DNS (Domain Name Servers) around the world. Please Note: If your browser links to the main PPRuNe site, there'll be no need to make any changes. However, many people on this forum in particular have their browsers set to link direct to the forum, rather than via the main site. If you do, you'll need to go to the main site (pprune.org), then to Rotorheads, and save the new link to Rotorheads in your browser. There's bound to be some disruption, but bear with us - the change is necessary to cope with the enormous demand which has been stretching the old server to its limits, and occasionally beyond! oh my, i had better go to work on sunday then, thanks for letting us know

Hi SSS
... and my Boss always told me that it is natural for a helicopter pilot to work on Sundays. :O Well, guess what... I'm lucky... I'll be at work tomorrow... |
I'm at work today. UK HEMS. 3 weekends a month.
Any one else? |
What an irritation. Nick behind me and I have no tech question to ask. Then what will happen: I'll need a wise answer to all things helicopterish and No Nick. How fickle is that.
Just like waiting for a taxi and there won't be any, n' when I don't want one ; loads will be parked up waiting. Sudden daft idea could there ever be a man powered helicopter? |
Sunday is when the newspaper is bigger when you trip over it on your way to work......

"Sudden daft idea could there ever be a man powered helicopter"
If you manage to invent one you can win $20,000 here RC |
PPRuNe is upgrading to a new state of the art server tomorrow Sunday 14th March This is very nice. In the other side of the pond, speed improved quite a bit. HOWEVER Why am I already getting "server too busy, try again later " messages in a brand new, state of the art Server  :\ |
RotorPilot,
I've found the performance to be pretty stellar since the upgrade... very fast and efficient. I haven't seen any busy error messages, yet. If you connect via a network at work that uses an internal DNS server, it probably hasn't been updated through the normal propogation referenced earlier (via the public Internet). To ensure you have fresh domain name resolution information, perform the following steps... Windows 2000 or Windows XP... START RUN Type "cmd" Press ENTER on your keyboard A new MS-DOS window will appear Inside that window, type the following... IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS Press ENTER Close all windows This will clear any cached DNS information that you had on your system that was previously provided by your local DNS server. As a result, when you go to the PPRuNe website, it will be forced to get updated information from an external, publically accessible, DNS server. If this doesn't work, send me a PM and I'll schedule a remote support desktop session with you to help resolve your current performance dilema. R2 |
Hi RDRickster
I do connect within a network (50 PC's more or less), but don't have access to the server as it is closed in a special room. The Network manager would kill anyone caught trespassing :\ :\ :\ Will talk with him. Thanks RP |
I thought that was why you were having performance issues (lucky guess). Anyway, you should be able to run the commands listed above on your local workstation with the same results. These are completely harmless and shouldn't harm your PC in anyway. If that doesn't work, then I 'spose you'll have to talk with your network admin about it.
