A-Star vs. L-4 DOC's

Does anyone have experience operating B-2 A stars and L-4 LR. For our operation 5 to 10000' MSL the payload is about the same. What about unscheduled Mx; is the A star compatible to the Bell. In 2 years and 2000 Hrs ( 4 AC's) all that broke was a fuel pressure sensor. Thanks.

Do you work for Bell

Re: A-Star vs. L-4 DOC's

You must surely work for bell to say something like that.
I used to do lifting at hot anf high and let me tell you the the L4 is not even close of a B2 for this type of operation.
The loss of tail control of the L4 in high altitude still make this machine a no go operation in high altitude.
Secondly , you can not compare the ability of the turbomeca engine at high alt with the "cooking" alison of the L4.
Believe me , when you operate at 10000' you do not f......k around with your tail!!!!!!!!!!!

No, I do not work for Bell. But operating a L4 with the high alt. Tailrotor will give you a pretty close payload at, let's say 7000' and 25*C. And yes while a L3 or 4 with the regular TR will have ' pooped out' long ago I'll be looking at @ 735*C and 98/99% Ng (out of 105%). i was just looking for anybody with some experience in operating both types not your personal preference. Thanks.
