I thought the doors were made together with the fuselage, and that's why they only fit the same fuselage they came with. At least that's what I was told about the R22 doors

Hammer to fit , file to finish ?

Robinson did outsource the doors, but because of the poor quality, they decided to insource it. That was even before the R44. AFAIK this has not changed.

I heard a little old lady made them in a shed until she retired.

I don’t know her name; she was always referred to as ‘Er in doors.

;)

A quick explanation/translation of “Er in doors” for our international friends.

It’s a deliberate misquote of a well-known British colloquialism.

'er indoors - was originally how a Cockney man may refer to his stay-at-home wife.

I know it from 'Minder', and I'm Australian. I don't think we ever saw her over all those years, Arthur would just mention her from time to time.
