Boat capsizes during rescue

Another dramatic video from a rescue helicopter. Such a wonderful and powerful form of education.
I wonder if the rescue swimmer saw the threat, does he appear to stop swimming toward the boat and prepare for the wave?
What comms equipment is worn by a swimmer these days? Does the swimmer wear an earpiece? Could the crew warn the swimmer of the mega wave?
The swimmer was a student......
"As a rescue swimmer, this was Aviation Survival Technician 3rd Class John "Branch" Walton's first life saved. Hours later, he and his classmates graduated from the Advanced Rescue Helicopter School."

VicPD is in Canada not Victoria Australia, the warrants are for British Columbia.

Having sat above a number of air sea rescues “holding two sticks”, I have the ultimate respect for anyone who is prepared to go in the water and risk their own life to pull out those in need.

A job well done.

Yes, Victoria, British Columbia - the capitol. The Columbia bar is no place for fools and is considered one of the more dangerous crossings in the world.

Young John "Branch" Walton reminds us of the splendid service and dedication the US Coast Guard is known for....and greatly respected by those they help in times of great danger and need.

The Columbia Bar is a very deadly place for sure.

The Coast Guard sends small boat crews there for rough water training.

It's amazing how people can rise to the occasion, one of our 205's was sent out to a yacht floundering in the rough waters of Bass Strait, not a SAR organisation with trained operatives, arriving on site one of the pilots, Terry Ellis, who was a good swimmer, volunteered to go into the water to give the essential aid necessary to affect the rescue, wasn't just a straight winch job. Always thought Terry should have received a medal.
