Capt Ian Welsh
Regret to report that Capt Ian Welsh, Formerly AAC, North Midlands Helicopter Support Unit & Derbyshire, Rutland & Leicestershire Air Ambulance Pilot, passed away last week.
In 2006, Ian fought quite a battle - firstly with Stage 4 Bowel cancer and later with the CAA to get his single pilot ticket back, managing to overturn a 5 year "as or with a co-pilot" restriction and continuing to fly as an Air Ambulance Pilot until he reached the age of 60. RIP Mate. |
Extremely saddened to hear that. Ian was a real gent.
I worked with him at RAF Shawbury and later at North Mids. I helped as far as I could with his return to flying after his cancer battle. RIP. |
The Wookie??

Sorry to hear this. Although we never served together we both flew for the same unit. My sincere condolences to Ian’s family.

Capt Ian Welsh
Ian was my brother, and I would like to contact someone who has more information about his date of death and where he was, since he was not in touch with me or his brother, Alasdair. Thanks Alison

Mods at work in the background? Good to hear.

Sorry to hear. Ian was a real gent, who I remember from Bond Longside days. Commiserations to all concerned.
