Details are limited, but the aircraft crashed across from Dean’s Cake House on Snowden Drive, according to Covington County Sheriff Blake Turman.

Turman said the helicopter was en route to a hospital when it began having some difficulties and crashed.

A pilot and two medics were inside the aircraft at the time, Turman said. The pilot was seriously injured, and the medics were injured.

City officials are asking the public to avoid the area as a number of power lines are down. City and Covington County EMA personnel are on the scene and an investigation is underway.

Another wire-strike? It certainly looks that way but details are limited.

This article has one mention of. Wires.....saying Utility Crews were working to retire electrical service in the area of the crash.

It also mentions the aircraft was experiencing problems.

Due to the journalistic standards of today's media....they do not sufficient detail that tells whether the wires got hit before, during, or after the "problems" were encountered.

If it turns out to be a Wire Strike....then that is two such incidents for Air Methods this week.

In the meanwhile....those HueyFlight Experience folks put on an unblemished day of flying.

Pilot became Ill before incident

Officials tell WDHN that the pilot was picking up a patient from a nearby medical facility when he began to feel ill and tried to land the helicopter which resulted in the helicopter crashing.

Following the crash, City of Andalusia Utilities crews began working to restore five power lines that were broken when the helicopter crashed.
So not the cause, just the result.
