MD500e navigation gauges
Hi all
I have a real world question relating to my MD500e Simulator. I have a full set of simulated instruments on my LCD screen. I have the normal flight and engine instruments along with HSI, Shadin fuel flow, radar altimeter. I have one space left for one more navigation instrument but not sure which of the following to include VOR1,VOR2 or ADF or any other nav instruments I have missed Cheers Rhys |
It's a VFR ship, don't get carried away!
|
Perhaps spend that extra time going out and maybe find a girlfriend ;-)
|
The most basic of terminology...
Flight and navigation instruments/displays are not "gauges". How could you fit VOR2 if there isn't a VOR1? Concur with above. gaugePronunciation /ɡeɪdʒ/See synonyms for gaugeTranslate gauge into Spanish NOUN(mainly US gage)
|
ADF.....that allow you to listen to standard broadcast radio stations so you can have music, news, talk radio to entertain you on those long cross country flights as you fly IFR....I follow roads, rivers, ridges, railroads.

Evil twin no need, I'm dating your mother Meleaggertoo I was looking for advice and posted here in the hopes maybe someone could help, I assumed the replies would be friendly, helpful and courteous and from those in the know , who may be able to help a novice like myself. I guess friendly, helpful and courteous is missing in the professional pilots group. |
She's nearly 80 YUK!

I guess friendly, helpful and courteous is missing in the professional pilots group. Also just a reminder about social media sites in general - you will rarely know who you are dealing with! That adds to the cynicism and mistrust. People often disregard all all social norms and politeness when hacking away on the keyboard, it's just a fact. Internet inspired bravado is a real condition! P.S. I found Eviltwin's mother to be quite charming. |
I recommend an old style “Fixed Card ADF” then turn off all other nav devices and fly a NDB only xcountry, some holds and some NDB approaches….you will vastly improve your math skills. For true fun turn off the HSI / DG and use the standby compass.
An old skillset but it improves situational awareness. Oh we did refer to IFR fright as “Flying on the Gauges” or sometimes “Dials” especially when telling “tales of daring done”. A superior IMC pilot was sometimes referred to as “A dragon on the Dials”. Flying used to be fun..if you weren’t having fun you or the aircraft were doing something wrong. |

As you are clearly not even a 'novice' pilot, leave alone a professional one it behoves you to act with a little respect here - especially as you are clearly just a thoroughly ill informed flightsimmer. If you cannot even bother to learn even the most basic of terminology don't you think you'd be better on a newbie flightsimmer forum, rather than posturing and gobbing off here among Professional aviators? We'll tolerate all sorts of newbie questions, but yours were just so far below the bar it was impossible to take them seriously. And as to your astonishingly impertinent and arrogant response to my mild rebuke, I think you have proved several times over that you are totally out of your depth tehnically, leave alone socially or politely. |
Lighten up Guys....relax and enjoy the moment as Evil Twin's Mom would have to do if Two ever did stop by.....knowing at best he is only good for one very quick ouch and go so the girls at his Old Folks Home tell it.
They know him by sound even as he is always humming that old Southern Baptist Hymn...."Precious Memories"! |
Thanks Two's in
I'm certainly old enough to take on feed back positive and negative. To evil Twin please except my apology the post does not reflect the person I am and was written late at night so no excuse for my rudeness and disrespectful behaviour Meleaggertoo please accept my apology |
Moderator where are you? This all thread deserve to be deleted!
Reco ask your question again at a later time and hopefully you'll get better feedback, I am sure many participants have a great 500 panel config that they are willing to share and even give you some pictures. |
|
Reco, why not resort to good old Google and just examine the hundreds of H500 instrument panel pics you'll find there?
|
Does a simulated ADF in a simulator play real radio audio channels? I think not….
|
Shy.....just do what you do in the real aircraft.....just hum and fake it!
|
On the basis it’s a simulator, why not take out the fuel flow as there is no real engine, and insert DME and ADF for maximum possible radnav simulator options.
