AW189/149 Vergiate test reg collecting pax Battersea

Being nosey - and noisey - interesting movement today out of Battersea.
3-pax rotors running - on EASA Test register ?
Is that the same as FAA ‘experimental’ - ie no CAT flights ?

RVDT 22nd Apr 2022 23:55

You can do "demo" flights - as long as no remuneration?

I actually had the chance to fly the Airbus H160 from Marignane to Monaco before it was fully certified as it was F-W on the side, pre-production #03 and 2018...............

You have to sign a couple of waivers, but it happens all the time.

Nothing to see here.

Influencing potential buyers or journos has been classed as ‘remuneration’ - JCB anyone?
so potentially - plenty to see here - rumour network remember …..

If the aircraft did not have a valid CofA, it can still be flown under a Permit to Fly. EASA Part 21.A.701 details the type of flying which can be carried out on a Permit to Fly, which includes "flying the aircraft for customer acceptance", "delivering or exporting the aircraft", "market survey, including customer’s crew training" and "exhibition and air show". If the aircraft had a valid CofA, it is just a normal flight. I understand that Italian register allows registrations to be re-used; for example I-RAIU has been associated with several serial numbers.

Must be a slow day around Battersea.

There is "rumor" and then there is "gossip".

EESDL 28th Apr 2022 17:54

Yeah - it's not as if they've done such a thing before.........flying journos up and down the Thames etc.
"Exhibition & Airshow" does not include having pax onboard.
Is that classed as 'rumour', 'gossip', LH 'shooting themselves in the foot' or an indication of arrogance and a 'what are you going to do about it' attitude?

Someone should take a G- reg aircraft into Italy and do some "demo" flights. I bet a few eyebrows would be raised by the Italian authorities!

Some people need to get out more often by the looks.

Annex I to ED Decision 2019/019/R GM1 Article 2(1)(d) Definitions

ARO.GEN.310 (a).
NON-COMMERCIAL OPERATIONS — EXAMPLES The following examples of operations are not covered by the definition of commercial operations or by that of specialised operations. They are identified as non-commercial operations. Some of these flights are listed by an AOC holder in its operations manual Part-A, ch. 8.7 as non-commercial operations (as specified in AMC3 ORO.MLR.100) and covered by the provisions of ORO.AOC.125.

Some of these operations are performed on an irregular basis. The operator and its crew members may consider them as non-routine operations, situated outside their operational routine. This constitutes a risk that the operator should include in its risk assessment process.
The operations listed below are performed with aircraft having a certificate of airworthiness or a permit to fly and being already listed on an AOC or on a declaration. They are grouped by the purpose of the flight.Demonstration flights

(a) A flight performed with the purpose of demonstrating:

(1) an aircraft’s handling, performance and functionalities to buyers or lessees;

(2) an aircraft’s flying characteristics or the operational procedures to the competent authority, for verification of compliance with the operational requirements, as per ARO.GEN.310 (a).
Other terms used: (route) proving flight; operational evaluation flight.

(b) Flight at the end of lease or upon transfer of ownership: a flight performed at the request of the operator to verify compliance of the aircraft with the contractual specifications of the lessee/lessor or buyer.
Other term used: acceptance flight.

(c) ‘Public relations (PR) flight’: a flight carrying official or media representatives as non-paying passengers. Sometimes personnel of the operator are included. The PR flight is performed in the interest of the operator’s own business.
Now folks - which bit did you miss or was the Anorak obscuring your view?
