Flat Holm Island
Has anyone (rotary) landed on Flat Holm in the middle of the Bristol channel? Looks quite a fun place for a picnic, but can't see any chat about anyone having done so, though there appears to be at least one helipad on the island. It's not inhabited so brig your own flask it would seem?

It’s a protected area for birds, but does hold events for visitors. I have slung some loads out there, but it was for Trinity House and it was only once in 7 years.

Not a place to shut down unless you are super-confident it will start again.
Lots of birds. You would need to find out who owns it and get their permission. |
I have landed on Flat Holm probably five years ago they were very welcoming, I just gave them a call and asked they were very happy. Steep holm has lots of birds but flat holm is not too bad. Cardiff Heliport is not too far away may be worth asking them if they have any info.

You just call and get permission for landing from Cardiff Council; details below:
Andrea Davies Cardiff Council +44 29 2087 7900 [email protected] [email protected] - nature reserve island in Bristol Channel - £5 per person landing fee (£2.50 for under 16s) - small pub, the "Gull and Leak", that can provide lunch (was closed during COVID) - no landings on island to south "Steep Holm" |
Brilliant, thanks for that. Steep Holm looks like you couldn't land on it anyway really?

Too steep, perhaps?
I'll get my coat... |
just a quick round of applause to Rotorheads for a successful post!!
