formerlongbox 24th Jan 2022 09:44

I will be there for the duration, I will be on the Bell stand if anyone wants to discuss anything in person or have a closer look at the range

nowherespecial 27th Jan 2022 05:55

I'll be there but cannot possibly say what I'll be doing. Mainly as I don't know. See you all there.

Gordy 27th Jan 2022 16:23

I will be there the whole time. I may have an extra pass that I could loan out for half a day here or there.,

Collern 20th Feb 2022 10:41

I’m considering to attend the show. How many days will you recommend allocating for the show? - i’m just attending as a private person and do you have any oppinions on the show you Would like to share, how is it?

Hughes500 20th Feb 2022 16:54

Havent been to the show for about 20 years. Is it worth the flight over from UK and the $ 110 to get in ? Although best mate lives in Dallas so tempting.

I go every year as I am on various committees and have numerous meetings to attend.

The show is worth it, although the show floor is less appealing to me each year as there is only a limited number of thigs I have not seen. Certainly for any helicopter enthusiast it would be worth a visit once every few years. Thee is a lot to learn and see, besides all the free stuff, (that normally gets left in my hotel room when I leave except the really good stuff...).

If you are determined, you can see all the booths in one day, expect to walk in excess of 5 miles though as you criss cross the floor. The safety briefings are great value for private and even commercial pilots and they are all free, via the safety challenge.

We have exhibited every year for about 15 years - well except for last year and we are back again this year. Thankfully Comrade Ardern our PM decided we could leave and also get back into NZ which makes it easier.

If you havent been to a Heli Expo yet then its worth going - every manufacturer is there as well as all those who make every bit and piece you can think of for helicopters. The classes that HAI run for aircrew and those involved in the industry are worth going to, obviously they cost but are usually worth the $$. Its the one event I look forward to attending. The only show that was as good as Heli Expo was the original Helitech at Duxford but that is long gone.

Like Gordy says there is a lot of walking involved when you walk the floors - its a BIG floor area. Hope to see some of you there.

If you're just a regular joe-blow pilot (like myself) its fun to go for a day if its local, but I wouldn't travel a great distance to get there.

Heli Expo

I would encourage Joe Blow pilots to attend for at least a day. I am not a paid pilot (although I do try to be professional) and attended my first one in Atlanta several years ago. This coincided with buying an Enstrom 480B. It’s a big show, how big you ask. Well, there are Sikorsky 92s hiding that you have to go find. Then go looking for the half dozen fire fighting converted Blackhawks. You seriously have to go find these giants.

I got lucky this year and won a 3 day pass at OshKosh. Dallas is an easy trip, and Enstrom wants my ship for display or sales rides.

I'm going! Can't pass up the chance to meet some of you jokers. Although...it's hard to know who is who, considering we all use "handles" on these websites and forums and I probably won't bump into a guy with "Gordo" on his nametag (although I'd like to). Last one I went to (Atlanta), my friend introduced me by my real name to some chick pilot who I recognized from online. Later in the show while I was off doing...something, he mentioned to her who *I* was online. And she went, "Oooooh, THAT guy?" Then she made some 3 Stooges noises about "moidering" me and "tearing me limb from limb" if she'd only known. I guess I'm not real popular with chick pilots. Hey - maybe I'll put "FH1100 Pilot" on my badge! Should be a fun show!

EDIT! For you first-timers, here's a bit of good, solid advice: WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES! You'll thank me later.

I wonder if Cameron (I think that was his name) will be there. He's the Enstrom rep I've seen everytime I've gone. Even flew with him in a 280 once out of San Carlos.

I have a feeling she could not possibly care less about you and your weird fantasies. It's quite pathetic, really.

Wow what a comment. Not really sure where you come up with the weird fantasies part.

PhlyingGuy 21st Feb 2022 19:47

Because him calling professional women "chick pilots" isn't?

admikar 21st Feb 2022 20:34

Why is everything about s**ism today? He is mentioning her online, so we have no idea who she is and her "tearing him a new one" gets no response whatsoever. If she was more proffesional about him he might have shown her the same courtesy here.

Heli Expo

Enstrom has paid for a booth. There is a group trying desperately to get approval from the bankruptcy court to set up the displays. No word yet on if it will happen.

The good news is that the court has decreed that there will be no “foreign bidders” on the company.

The wheels of the bankruptcy turn slowly, I feel for the employees and their families.

heli1 27th Feb 2022 10:45

Looking at the floor plan there seems to be a lot of empty space in the booth areas. Travel issues may also knock attendance this year ?
