Arrius 2f

Have recently participated in an attempt to do a calandar reset, with Turbomeca, at 16.5 years on a 1000 hr rem, engine( out of Ec120) of course it ends in tears. Supposedly a set price 70k Eur, subject to of course, to what they find; it ends up well over 300k Eur.
In one way I understand it, your an engineer with an engine pulled apart on the bench, an engine that if you say so, will fly around for another 15 years if you give it a tick; or say no, put in a new this or that, just to be sure, then go home and sleep at night. Unfortunately the this or that is worth 100,000 of thousands of dollars. Does anyone have a half life engine for sale?

Turbomeca is the same good and bad: good for the reliability bad for the cost of servicing.
would a new engine be close to $450K? then $300K for a new engine is still a good deal, another 15 yrs and 3500h

Same Old

I'm guessing the price increase was due to SB's to be incorporated, new replacement components etc .......
We always have this issue when sending an engine to Turbomeca, even if its for a simple repair, as soon as it goes into there facility, they will carry out all bulletins
(as they say, it states it on the SB, whenever an engine is returned to facility carry out)

I believe its a bit more than a clear conscience that drives some of these costs. Turbomeca has always been the outlier with more calendar/time limited requirements than other turbine OEMs. And as mentioned, if the work is performed per Turbomeca manuals usually requires the compliance of any outstanding bulletins, etc. which adds to the cost.

Personally, I think you are brave to operate a Safran / TM engine outside of PBH.

In the past, I have had reasonable success with speaking with a rep and discussing your usage and best options to go forward.

If you are on PBH they will certainly answer the phone when it rings!!!

Getting into the scheme with a fresh starting point is relatively easy. With a runout engine - not so much.

Tried Safran for a second-hand engine? I would start with some dialogue with Safran TM as you may be surprised one way or the other!!

non-airworthy Arrius 2F engine

Message from the year 2023:
Hi,

May I ask is there a non-airworthy Arrius 2F engine for training purpose only?

We just use it to train students.

Kind regards,
Matt, contact:[email protected]
