Vale Ian Morrison

Fond memories of time spent with Ian both in and outside the cockpit (Anduki/Brunei) and then a couple of Xmases with him and Annabelle down in Tassie.

He will be missed.

...plenty of hours logged at The Irish Bar in Taipa with many of us here also. A really nice down to earth guy and a competent and totally professional aviator.

Hi Manky,
How are you?
The name rings a bell, would I have known him?

Cheers Nigel

Thanks for passing that on Peter. Great guy and excellent pilot, he'll be much missed. First met him at Sumburgh after his RN time when he and Dave Humble were based there and we disembarked a Sea King from an out of limits RFA. Sadly Ian spent his last years as a widower.

Hi Nigel. I am well and enjoying retirement this last 3 years. I would guess that you may have known Ian from his RN days. I met and flew with him in Brunei on the Shell 61’s. Prior to that he had spent some considerable time on the Scilly Isles / Penzance 61 shuttle. I believe he logged near 10,000 hours on that run. Think after Brunei Shell there was time in Norwich on the S76B then time on the Macau 76C+. May have my dates out of order so will stand corrected. A great fun guy who enjoyed a tipple.

Peter

Have fond memories of "Great Uncle Bulgaria" when we were together at KLM in Norwich in the mid nineties.

A lovely chap. My condolences and best wishes to his family and friends.

Very saddened to hear of Ian’s passing. A very accomplished pilot and great company with endless, interesting stories to tell.

Great memories of my wife Kathy and I spending time with Ian and Annabelle socially in the village of Horning, Norfolk where we both lived.

Condolences to his family and many friends.

RIP mate.

Yes, he was great company during those Norwich days before he went off to join Rupert on the Hong Kong - Macau shuttle. Stacks of great stories including the one where a sea eagle smashed through the centre cockpit window of his S61 off Borneo and ended up at the back of the cabin.

The funeral: https://ianmorrison.muchloved.com/ 23rd July, 1300 at GreenAcres, Colney, Norwich.

The ranks of the Macau old school crew are thinning...Rupert W and Neil C previously, and now Ian M. Bucket loads of experience there alone.

A true aviator, and one that helped shape the pilot I am today. I was fortunate enough to fly with him in Macau when I was just starting out, as others have mentioned, he always had a good story or two, as well as a ton of wisdom. Outside of work Ian was a great friend and Annabelle was always a gracious host. He will definitely be missed by many, my thoughts go out to his family and friends.
