Flying Northern Ireland
 

Planning on doing some flying in a fortnight in NI. Leaving from CookstownHeading up top the North coast and along by Rathlin Island and down the coast past Bangor, Mourne Mountains and back. Any suggestions on places to stop and where might be open for Fuel?

There will be no shortage of ex military who will tell you the places to avoid.

Not much to avoid these days. Enniskillen is a great little airfield, stunning scenery.

Ulster Flying Club at Newtownards (EGAD) is heli-friendly and has Cloud Nine, a most excellent diner!

Slieve Croob airfield just outside Newcastle. They have a small fixed wing flying club there. Been a while since they had Helicopters in I believe. There's also a helipad at the Slieve Donard Hotel in Newcastle right along the beach.

Echo tu154 - Enniskillen is beautiful.

It is, unlike the requisitioned timber yard over the main road that always seemed to be under a foot of rainwater.

Went to a challenging little site near Sixmiletown two years ago that were very friendly, home made cakes, yum! Can’t remember the name of it, a pal directed me there. Also been to many other very challenging sites in Ulster but that was many years ago.....

Have you had a look on Helipaddy yet? Found it very helpful when flying to Killyleagh Castle Towers a couple of years ago.
