G-TCAA air ambulance
I heard a helicopter fly over my house this evening and checking on FlightRadar24 noticed it was a children’s air ambulance. On my version of FR24 it showed on the map as the flight having originated from about four miles from here in the middle of a built up area (19:58). It actually flew to Hull Royal Infirmary (20:18) before settling at Humberside Airport (HUY).
Nothing reported locally so just wondered why the flight start was showing on the map in such a strange place (nowhere there for it to have landed really) |
Helos do land in built-up areas, streets, etc and it may well have been the urgency of the case to do this.Let`s just hope it was a successful job by the crew. Also ,the track might not be `visible` until the aircraft has reached ,say 3-400 ft,so it may not be where you saw it...

FR24 is by no means 100% accurate when it comes to low level operations. I’ve checked many of the helicopter flight tracks I’ve flown and they often fail to start or end at precisely the correct place. It sometimes shows us departing and landing at airfields when we haven’t done so.

TCAA was probably carrying out a flight from Scarborough to Hull Royal Infirmary. At the moment, due to the building work and the proximity of cranes, the main helipad at Hull is sometimes unavailable so a secondary site is used for transfers.

Flight Radar 24 shows two of the helicopter types I operate as 737 Type jets which is a bit odd, and sometimes when I look at one of my supposed routes I think I was nowhere near it
