PBN
Has anyone seen anything about an extension to the 25 Aug 2020 cut off for EASA PBN qualifications. I see lots of other extensions at this time but can't find anything about PBN

Im really interested to know as well about the extension of PBN

I've heard that there is an extension to 25th April 2021, but unfortunately I don't have a link to the supporting paperwork.
Edit: here's the document from the Dutch government: https://www.ilent.nl/onderwerpen/cor...gdheid-met-pbn And this one for Lithuania: https://tka.lt/assets/uploads/sites/...2020-1-PBN.pdf Check your own NAA for the version that is applicable in your situation. |
Belgium as well...

Slovenia as well, extended till late April...
|
The U.K. CAA have drafted an extension for DfT approval in accordance with the EASA guidance (as adopted by those aforementioned in the thread) but it is not yet published. An extension to 25 April 21 is expected imminently.

Anyone heard something about the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority because the ATO's here in Greece are pushing us to extend our IR's to PBN as soon as possible.
Thank you in advnace |
PBN farce?
The whole PBN thing may turn into a little farce due to the recent amendment of Part FCL (2020/739). The only time you are going to have to do PBN is on an initial Instrument Rating. Thereafter there's a new derogation which reads:
https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....f7271039be.jpg No more RNP APCH? So if you haven't got the kit in your helicopter why bother with the whole thing in the first place! The PBN privileges that are left when you remove RNP APCH are minimal! Plus they don't mention how you will annotate this reduction in privileges on a licence. |
Dear gipsymagpie
I would agree with you..the thing with the PBN on our license's is just a big scam we all know that...my friends who are flying now in an airline industry told me that i will do it on my type rating.BUT as a CPL/MEPIR student my flight school told to me i cant continue with my training because from 25 of August of 2020 is a mandatory requirement... |
The PBN privileges that are left when you remove RNP APCH are minimal! Personally I think it works fine how it is now, that is to say you can only fly PBN routes and terminal operations with the qualification on the specific type. That way those who want to and are appropriately equipped can do so, if they maintain the appropriate training and checking. Those who don’t can’t. Those who can’t but want to will at least have reason to invest in the appropriate aircraft kit or certification to enable them to. Once you have PBN on your licence how does anyone know whether you are maintaining PBN privileges on type with each PC? |
Is it PBN type related?
For example if you have PBN completed on AW 139 IR check. I need to pass IR check on A109 during PC but A109 is not PBN capable. I know that before 25th August you can make IR without PBN. So after 25th August do I have valid IR on A109 or not? |
You only need to validate your IR as PBN before August. This could be on one of your types. From August forwards if you want to do RNP APCH you need to do one of these approaches during your PC on each type you want to do these approaches on. Otherwise you don't need to. So I don't think you do need to bother with the A109E.
