I worked for a reputable company in the Solomon Islands. The company deducted SI tax from my salary even though I was paid by the UK HQ.

I was there for two weeks. Tax refund? Forget it.

You give your origin as South Africa and you are going to work in Indonesia.

You ain't seen nothing. Just busk it as you go along.

I don't think non Indonesian residents can enter the country at the moment and won't be able to for a while yet. I wouldn't resign from any other job until your travel was established.

- Is this a dry camp (No Alcohol) allowed? Fully stocked mini bar in your room as well as the common bar with pool tables. Afternoon beers at the Rimba Papua Hotel every afternoon.
- Are movements restricted to the main camp and airport only or is one allowed to venture into town to buy toiletries and other goodies? Totally safe to travel around and free to do so at your own will. You will receive a company car, usually a new Landcruiser.
- What is the working environment like, is the client very difficult. Is there a standard dress code. Easy working environment, start at 10 am and finished by lunch time. Engineer will daily your helicopter for you and put it to bed and wash it at the end of each day. Dress casual. Safari suit required for functions.
- Laundry at the camp is there an issue with personal clothes missing on a regular basis, should one plan to bring extra socks, underpants etc.. Your personal maid will attend to all of your laundry on a daily basis, 12 hour turn around on all laundry, all shirts starched.
- Should I consider getting a local SIM card or will this be provided upon arrival? Company will provide you with a smart phone with a sim card that is good for worldwide use and unlimited data.
- What wall plugs are used there, the same as the UK, Australia, or other? Three kinds on every wall, US, Australia and UK.
- Any other suggestions or advice... Papuan women are hot!

- As a new employee, I believe the first stop is Bali - What is the process there, and how many days does it normally take? What is the name of the area and accommodation where crews are housed during this period? Process is you get drunk, laid and repeat for several days until you have a work permit. You will be put up in a 5 star hotel while you are in Bali undergoing induction and processing the paperwork.
