Helo pilot wanted

Honestly, that's what the ad said. Says mountain flying, so all you offshore guys can take a hike...

Just a caution that the standards for mountain flying a model are pretty high. First is being able to handle a loaded R44 in the high and tight. And you can't be asking yourself where you'd go when the engine quits. (It never quits on an R44).
For example:

Hmmm, someone forgot to tell that to a mate of mine when his engine quit in an R44. Good thing it's forgiving in autorotation

Cannot be a very good model. The ones I know wouldn't be seen dead in a R44.

Looks like you Helo boys have all the fun.

I once had the opportunity to fly three models, the photographer, producer/director, dog sled, musher, and dog team up onto Eagle Glacier in Alaska for an all day photoshoot.

At the end of the day....the Sled Dogs were the only other critters that showed any commonsense and likability.

Explaining there was no Ladies Loo on the Glacier fell upon some very spoiled ears.

I do admit there was a certain amount of entertainment watching the dogs outsmart the Models.

If you were to ask me for counsel.....the answer is "No Thank You!".

Do get to fly the occasional ones to Coachella, or Catalina.... Like the saying goes... "Nice to look at, but somewhere out there is some guy tired of dealing with their ****", and most are dumber than a post...

Actually, the ad states a "heli" pilot,...so no military guys either!

Fareastdriver 23rd Jan 2020 18:18

It's OK if you are flying something with a bit of beef. Then you can plant them in the LHS and they can sit there starry eyed whilst they think they are actually flying the helicopter.

I forget to mention the autopilot.

Sometimes......a very pretty Post one might consider!

But as Gordy rightly notes without saying it.....at some point you have to begin talking and that is when the pretty wears thin pretty quickly.

And sometimes one draws the short straw:

Not flying but I had a Z lister once who refused to speak to me directly, all communication was relayed through her assistant as we all stood together.

it doesn’t have to be models;
i was once heli-skiing with a group of 5+ guide and one pax sat out a run. He and i (of course!) flew to the bottom landing after dropping the group off and the they eventually arrived. One guy in the group asked the riding guest what he had been doing while not skiing and he said “talking to the pilot”. The response was “you mean this guy?!?” Said Geoffrey Epstein. Haha!
