It seems like its very difficult to find starting wages on the north sea offshore work as a co pilot?

Any ideas on shift style and pay?

first officer CHC approx £65-£67k

Babcock FO around 55k. Roster 52595277 normally, a few 7/7s also.

That's assuming you are brand new low hours and no type rating, bring more to the party and the numbers change

Senior First Officer (>3,000 hours TT) makes £67k but if you come in with <500 hours you're looking at £46k (increasing with hours flown: £50k when you pass 1,000 - £54k above 1,500 - etc...)

But is this kind of low hour FO hiring really happening other than to an irrelevant degree? Fewer people seem to train because the Oil is bad, but few people in the pipeline doesnt equal lower requirements as such. Or are we missing something and hiring is actually ok for new RW guys atm?

Right place right time to get a type rating at the moment, operators still want rated pilots. They will run out eventually

nhv hiring at the moment, it says type rating ' preferable' . To me that means not essential

Onshore piston hours don’t mean much in terms of getting hired.
You might find the IR a bit easier with a few hours under your belt.
Timing is everything. Companies are hiring now. Might be all over and gone from boom to a bust phase by the time you have a few hundred more hours. And the oil might run out.
And there’s the never ending uncertainty over the price of oil and winning or losing contracts.
Personally, I’d go fixed wing and fly helis for fun. Don’t get me wrong, I love my job, but it’s dust off the cv time again as contracts are going elsewhere. That gets old.

Offshore / North Sea co pilot starting wage? Does anyone know what it actually is, obviously depends on the company. Babcock? CHC? Bristow?

Last I heard (8 months ago) it was 45k for a co-pilot in Aberdeen.

After spending well over 100k to get there and the likelihood of either relocating or paying for accommodation whilst in Aberdeen - Yes it is a little poor. More than a fair comment.

try onshore jobs with the same requirements....35k for co-pilot jobs.
Having said that, there are a few jobs that pay more.
But anyone would have told you before you started training, if you want a return for your investment, go fixed wing.
Depending on your age, even with a starting wage of 45k you'll be able to pay off training costs in a few years.

Surely you were aware of the Pay and prospects before you spent over 100K on your qualifications?

I think 45K is a decent starting salary for a 1 year qualification. A tradesman earn less to start with and it takes 4 years to get qualified.

You make the point yourself - You wouldn't turn it down. Like anything, supply and demand. You're willing to work as a pilot for 45k to get into the industry. I actually think that's a pretty good salary, and the company is going to spend a heap on you to get you trained before they actually start getting anything back.

If they can get the pilots they need for a generally fair wage of 45k, why do you think they are going to pay more? A generous philanthropic gesture to say thanks?? No wonder everyone calls us the snowflake generation!!
