R44 forced landing

A helicopter has made an emergency landing on a road in Killinchy, County Down.

It happened on Tuesday afternoon at Whiterock Bay. No-one was injured.

The helicopter cut a power line as it landed, resulting in just over 30 customers losing electricity.

Northern Ireland Electricity said engineers were at the scene and hoped to have power restored "in the very near future".

In a statement, police said: "Police received a report that a helicopter made an emergency landing in the area of Whiterock Bay in Killinchy shortly before 4.50pm this afternoon.

"There were no injuries reported and Air Accident Investigation Branch have been informed."

Looks like Heli Powers ship from the photograph!

Maybe the "forced" part of the landing came after he clipped the wire on an otherwise surreptitious adventure.

If true, it wouldn't be the first time G-HWKS has become intimately acquainted with wires while attempting to land....

But at least the intrepid pilot elected to prove that it can still be flown with obviously damaged rotors having sliced clean through a pair of 7mm diameter HV cables, so it is unclear what stopped this journey after such a trivial incident....

"A little more care looking out for stuff that will kill you, Hoskins!". like wires... and damage from chopping straight through wires!

Or maybe it was an auto with a poor and/or unlucky final touchdown spot involving those wires.
