Hey Ned do you know if the High Skids will have more landing cycles than the standard version? Seems a strange limitation of a machine like this.

Jelico - I can ask but sounds strange
|
How well is the Arrius power by the hour deal working out in NZ?
|
Bell have succeeded in producing the ugliest helicopter ever made!!! IMHO.
|
EMS R22 - I doubt Simon or the others who have bought one could really give a $hite about what you think. Simon is very happy with his and its working well for him and that Sir is all that matters.

Nigel - When I was chatting with Simon he said he was easily doing 700kg plus the bucket which is about another 100kg so had 800kg on the hook and was in the bottom of the yellow, he was doing that day in day out with the topdressing. He said he is loving the machine.

Well said Ned !!!!! I am so bored of people who have no vested interest bang on about looks ..... it is a work horse and it appears , so far , to be a very effective and cheap one . ( apart from that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.... I had a 47 and thought that was beautiful and also a 480B and learnt to love that too . The 505 is definitely also growing on me but all I want is for it to be fast ( ish) , comfortable, powerful and cheap !!! |

Without starting from the beginning of the thread (sorry..), what was your operating altitude doing this lifting? Maybe just confirm the DA if you would? Thanks!

Thanks for the reply Ned, on point as usual from you.... I am familiar with Simons operation, top man and operator.
He will get the most out of the machine and a good test for it on NZ soil! Be interesting to see how it hold up on Ag. Still the ugliest machine in production!! |
EMS R22 - Yep that he is, one of the true gentleman of this industry here. Have to disagree with you on the ugliest, me personally I think that title stands with the Robbies. Yes the 505 is not the nicest looking one, but you sort of get used to it, and at least its not as ugly as a Robbie, but thats just my opinion.

For relatively current civil helicopters,
Ugliest, BO105, R22/44/66, BK, AS350/Bell505 about the same..., 204/205/212/214, 206/407, 222/109. Prettiest Something about those Italians, they just know how to build good looking gear. |
I think you missed MD900 at the ugly end and MD500 at the pretty end . I would happily swap my 109 for an old 500 ! |
