Bundesheer Alouette III, there. There was also over the last 13 years - one or two aerial rescues from gondola/cable car. One notable accident back in 05 in Tyrol was when Heli Austria Lama underslung load (cement mixer?) inadventently dropped on cable car system. Hence the like of OAMTC in the H135 were performing aerial rescues alongside the Flupolizei.

Laughingly I was an observer with my gf at an interagency emergency exercise in Lower Austria last Autumn. One scenario involved rescues of stranded skiiers on chairlifts (felt sorry for those freezing their behinds off at 20-30 ft above the ground!)

Some of my photos below,

cheers

Hmmmm, why would the hill operator not shut down the other lift. There appears to be no skiers on it but still?
There is a remote chance (remote) it could be disorienting for the driver.

One always wonders!
