I am led to believe there used to be such a manual, can anyone advise ? If there is such a thing is there a copy out there I can have / buy / borrow Cheers |

As OH-6A's were considered expendable items....I am surprised they even tried to repair them. Usually, they were pretty well used up by the time they got back to a repair shop.

If you were going to have a crash though SAS it was the machine of choice.

In all my time researching the 500 and OH-6, I don't recall every seeing any mention of a battlefield repair manual for the OH-6. Hughes set up a separate crash repair facility in San Diego, as far as I know. I'll see if anyone on a Hughes group on LinkedIn has any leads to one.

Google have scanned some OH-6A manuals held by University libraries - they are free to download from Google Books ... there are some maint manuals there, but no battlefield repair manual (I searched for "tm 55 1520 214")

From ADA572405 (1).pdf "Current procedures for assessment of BDR in Helicopters" The Army currently has Battle Damage Assessment and Repair manuals for the following classes of helicopters: UH-60, AH-64A/D, CH-47D and OH-58 A/C/D; and, every one of these Battle Damage manuals opens with these two caveats: • “BDAR fixes shall be used only in combat or for training at the discretion of the commander, in either case damages shall be repaired by standard procedures as soon as practicable.” The manual talks about “the Command” however the Level of command is not specified in Manual, based on general field experiences; it is normally at Brigade with a shift move down possibly to Battalion, with a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for direction. • Repairs are made using interim techniques, off-the-shelf standard hardware (not necessarily aircraft related) and without concern for appearance. |
