Seahawk - brown pants moment

Anybody Seen that before?

From the Link:

"The Words “Pucker Factor” Come To Mind.

Being in the military is inherently a hazardous job, but sometimes costly accidents can be avoided. Case and point is this video. Although awesome and we’re glad we got our hands on it, this could have easily been a disaster. Check it out and judge for yourself.

There’s barely any solid information as to when and where this happened, but a couple things are clear. For one, this is a SH-60, the Navy version of the UH-60 Black Hawk. It’s a twin turboshaft utility helicopter which serves many utility roles. Secondly, they’re very agile as you’ll be able to see in this video.

From the looks of it the Seahawk pilot made a hard bank and lost a lot of power. The helicopter then dipped and was going to crash, but by some miracle it just bounced and ricocheted off the ground. If any helo pilots are reading this and have a more technical explanation, please enlighten us in the comments section.

At the end though, this was a nice save. Not sure if the pilot just relied on training or if it was luck (maybe a combination of both), but this save was spectacular. We’re willing to bet everyone on that helo was glad to be in one piece.

One thing’s for sure. The laundry bill for that week must have been higher than usual."

Looks like me to a steep(ish) turn DOWNWIND with barely enough room to capture the initial height loss - caused by his inability to stay level (for whatever reason).
Maybe turned first......then pulled power after he realised he was losing height.
Too late. But bloody lucky.

That was from a Navy SEAL documentary. They obviously knew there was a film crew there so probably started with "Dude, watch this!"

I just think he wasn't looking in the right place - maybe some distraction in the cockpit - and hadn't picked up the sink until it was nearly too late.
