Lama Crash in Austria

A Wucher Helikopter Lama crashed today, the pilot survived without injuries :ok:

Pilot übersteht Hubschrauber-Absturz in Vorarlberg unverletzt « DiePresse.com

Only in German.

Rough translation: Flying logs, the helicopter returned to land to refuel the machine "the pilot had to make an abrupt control input" so the main rotor contacted the tail boom and the machine crashed onto the cround from 10 meters high.

Machine looks destroyed, lucky pilot.

A pilot has a helicopter crash and you think he was lucky?

Gravity in the alps seems to be acting up...
A somewhat similar accident happened on June 22. in Tyrol: 204B with engine failure crashed before landing to refuel (too late?).
No injuries, aircraft pretty damaged, logging operations (no sling or load attached at the time of crash).

Walking off an helicopter crash is indeed very lucky in most circumstances. Very unforgiving buggers...

Any landing you walk away from is OK. Any landing you walk away from and the aircraft is still usable is Excellent.

When I was a student, and after beating myself up over a few bouncy landings I was told,
Any landing you survived was good.
Any landing you walked away from was great
Any landing the Helicopter was able to fly after was exceptional.

So far my landings have been exceptional, still trying to keep it that way...

From the looks of the photograph of the wreck, he must have used up at least 2 of his 9 lives in that incident
