Rotorhead Ghost hits the news
I'm pretty sure this guy is a member and regular poster on this Forum.
Tortured soul of a 1970s helicopter pilot caught on camera | Daily Mail Online |
Sticks moving by themselves.....seen that lots of times when a set of Duals were installed....you reckon I have flown with Ghosts and did not realize it?
At the time I put it down to my Guardian Angel....who were Pressed Ganged and never volunteered as the duty was far too hazardous. |
Brilliant: a spook in an historic Royal Navy helicopter that wears a hat "symbolic of the RAF", and a Whirlwind that is "40 or 50 tons of metal". Genius. Some people are made for comedy. Daily Mail at its best.
Mind you, if it gets more people through the museum's doors then it's acceptable! |
A 40 or 50 ton helicopter! Wow! Somehow I think I have missed something in helicopter development, I had no idea they could get that big. As for the pictures, well they leave a lot to the imagination.

At my home field - Redhill - there is a bird (a pheasant, I think) that keeps running up to helicopters in the training areas.
Do you think that the tortured soul of a brave helicopter pilot is "in limbo" in that bird; forever wanting to pilot just one more "London sights" flight???? Or, as it seems to be running up to confront the machine; is it really the tortured soul of a CAA official - forever destined to try to regulate aircraft? Answers, please, on the back of a £10 note, sent to my home address. |
The human brain is sometimes very good at recognising patterns from only a few per cent of the information.
That photo looks like less than one per cent. |
He went looking for a ghost and made sure he found one. Says it all, really.
Now, if CCTV caught a figure moving around inside the chopper long after dark, and long after the museum closed - and no-one was looking for a ghost - well, maybe, just maybe, there could be a ghost story in that CCTV video. There's a few "paranormal" incidents that have been captured on CCTV, and they would not be easy to fake. |
Ghost or not, you wouldn't catch me in the LHS.

Cyclic,
You May not reveal the identity of any fellow Ppruners. I have to report this one to the Most Senior Pilot up in Heavens! Cheers SLB |
I wonder if he ever made G1 ?
Couldn't have been a significant prang either, the aircraft looks tip top. |
