Shutter Sync stationary rotors
Having seen shutter synch mentioned as an explanation in many posts for odd effects when discussing videos on here, I thought this great example might be of interest.

There are several examples of EC155s like that. For vertical procedures the Nr is raised to 355rpm using the Nr Hi/Lo switch. Its use is limited to below 80 kias, which is why you see the rotors start turning towards the end of the departure as the Nr is switched back to Lo - 342rpm.
Edit. I didn't watch the video as I recognised it. However, having now done so, I see it's been cut short from the one I've seen and so you don't see the aircraft departing down the river and gaining speed. Hence my remarks. |
