GTN 750 in an Agusta Power
Has anyone had any experience in fitting Garmin GTN 750 to an Agusta 109e or similar?
If so could you post a photo in this site which shows the panel layout. Much appreciated. My existing Agusta has a 400 series GPS installed and I would like to update to the 750. |

We went down the Avidyne path for our IFR Dauphin after initially wanting to install the 750 to replace our GNS500 and also had real estate problems.
Have had the Avidyne for over 12 months now and have been very happy with it. |

If it's a GNS430 you're replacing the Avidyne IFD440 is a plug and play replacement which is getting very good reviews. The IFD440 may well plug and play with the GNS400 as well.

It would be great if the 750 could be fitted. I have one in another aircraft. It's a great bit of kit .

What helps with a 750/650 combo is that using the remote audio panel and remote transponder (limited rotorwing STC's at present) can save a little panel space making it easier to accommodate the larger screen.

Problem is the GTN750 is 6" tall and the available space used by GNS530 or an MX20 MFD is only 4.6". That requires quite a hike in the glareshield height with a consequent effect on outside visibility.

We just updated to a GTN 650 on a IFR 206L3 last winter. We would have gone 750 if we could have made it fit, but it really wasn't in the cards. Thing is, there is only one advantage in my mind to the 750 - the bigger keyboard makes it much easier to enter intersection and airport identifiers. We installed the Garmin FlightStream 210 so that we can talk to the 650 with our iPads and it's much better than just having a bigger panel mount unit. Being able to mount it in various places, or keep it in your lap works out very well. I think the new transponder (375???) gets you that now, even without the 210. Not sure if you're aware, but you can upload and download flight plans from the iPad, so that gets around the issue of having to input identifiers on the smaller 650 unit. In our case, our avionics stack is on the far left of the cockpit, so using the iPad is also much nicer than having to lean across the cockpit to do everything on the GPS front panel. Also, you get the synthetic vision on your iPad hooked to the Garmin via Bluetooth, so that's another great benefit. Not sure if ForeFlight works in OZ, but Garmin Pilot is another possibility - in my opinion not as good as ForeFlight, but might work non-USA if Foreflight doesn't. My buddy likes the Jep app, not sure whether that supports flight plan up/down load, though. If you haven't looked into it as an option, I would highly recommend it. |

Thanks Thracian, I had done a few Googles for it but all the sites I came across gave specifications but no costs. It is a very user friendly piece of kit apart from a tendency to suddenly take a short cut when carrying out non-direct entries to approaches. I'm sitting there expecting it to parallel join procedure to reverse its course and it suddenly does a screaming Jesus turn to go outbound in the procedure, what's that all about! Anyhow, sorry for the thread drift Dick.

Also the 750 doesn't easily mark on target your position as easily as the 430/530 does.
