2 dead in 206 crash in New Brunswick
|
mechanical problems forced low altitude, and caught the wire, or simple CFIT?
|
Sounds like CFIW..
Matter of interest at 4pm would they have been flying towards the setting sun? |
There is a major powerline crosses the river in that spot (it was reported they hit the lines) . Sad news

6 lines cross the river on two tower systems. One steel tower and wooden poles.
Helo took out 4 lines as shown in media still photo , lines down across road. A/c was flying east track towards Caraquet from reports. One factor may be (only my opinion) that the north tower is a km away from the south structure. South tower is near highway and river at crash site. North tower is across a long island section and second north arm of river. Very long wire span. From looking at Google street view there appear to be no hanging balls or triangles on wire span to warn pilots. I see none near highway and river crash site where Google camera took photos. Pilot and machine out of Quebec so they were not local. Very unfortunate event. http://i97.servimg.com/u/f97/11/94/64/62/flat310.jpg http://i97.servimg.com/u/f97/11/94/64/62/flat410.jpg http://i97.servimg.com/u/f97/11/94/64/62/flat210.jpg |
