S-61N SN61822, call sign:G-BPWB

We are about to get this ship to Greenland for active SAR duty. It has been in service in Bristow, and was in service for 1 1/2 years in Holland, before stored in Norwich, England.
What I want to know is, if anybody here in this forum has flown this aircraft? And also could share info about this aircraft.

I think WB was an ex BCAL S-61N which Bristow bought in around 1987.

EDIT The above is not correct, I am getting my registrations mixed up! Thanks for the info

Try a PM to Phil Kemp (search) he is the S-61 expert.

Don't think it was connected to BCAL. It has been EI-BHO for Irish Helicopters one or two times.

Flew in her but only as a FADEC, i.e. copilot :ok: Fully forward not to exceed 106 was the call I shall never forget.

Hi all
Thats great you all. Nice to see all replies,. Thank you.

When everything is in order, it will be brought to Greenland and to join the arctic climate and once again set up in fully SAR config.
I have received response from several persons involved with this aircraft. That will certainly be helpful to us.

I will post pictures when and if the ship gets here. They say its going to be painted before being shipped up here.

ll right , all for now. .-)

was she the one that was last off the production line then? Could never remember if it was BHO/BPWP or BLY, the second IHL s61N

61827 was the last civil S-61. That operated as G-BHOH with Bristow. I seem to recall its last duties were with the UN. It was a hangar queen at Aberdeen for a while with BHOG from the turn of the century. I think it was one of the ones we sold to BIH as a fuselage for a "data plate swap".
